Why Wyoming Is the Best State for Your LLC
No state income tax, low annual fees, strong privacy. Here's why Gilgamesh Enterprise is a Wyoming LLC.
When you form an LLC, you choose where to file. Most people file in their home state by default. That's often a mistake.
The Wyoming case:
No state income tax — zero. Your LLC pays federal taxes, but Wyoming doesn't take a cut.
Low fees — Wyoming's annual report fee is based on your assets in Wyoming. For most small businesses it's the minimum: $60/year.
Privacy — Wyoming allows anonymous LLCs. Your name doesn't have to be public record. You can use a registered agent and keep your information off the public filing.
Strong charging order protection — if someone sues you personally, Wyoming makes it very hard for them to seize your LLC interest. One of the strongest protections in the country.
The practical reality:
You'll still pay taxes where you actually do business. Forming in Wyoming doesn't let you dodge your home state's taxes if you're operating there. You may need to foreign-qualify your Wyoming LLC in your home state if you have a physical presence.
But for an online business with no physical location requirements, Wyoming is the cleanest, cheapest, most private choice.
Delaware is for VC-backed companies. If you're raising institutional money, investors expect Delaware incorporation. If you're bootstrapped, Wyoming is almost always better.
The lawyers won't tell you this because they make more money on complexity. Now you know.
